Job Responsibilities

Quickly assessing the severity of patients' conditions.
Observing and recording patient vital signs.
Administering intravenous fluids and medications.
Properly using ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment.
Ordering diagnostic tests.
On-the-spot collaboration with other team members.
Applying nursing protocols to life-threatening situations.

Required Skills

Core Skills

Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice
Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications (internet, email, word processing)
Ability to retrieve and interpret data
Effective problem-solving skills
Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize

Preferred Skills

BSN or MSN
BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)

Requirements

Experience: At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN within a specific time frame)

License & Certification:

Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse
