Job Responsibilities

  • Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
  • Participate in maintaining a safe environment for patients.
  • Utilize interventions to de-escalate patients and participate in restraints as directed.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, and meals.
  • Move, lift, position, and transport patients using proper safety techniques.
  • Perform patient safety checks and utilize fall prevention strategies.
  • Take and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry.
  • Measure and record patients' weights and heights.
  • Perform EKGs, Point of Care tests, and bladder scanning.
  • Collect, label, and prepare specimens for lab transport.
  • Assists RN/Licensed Independent Practitioner with treatments and procedures.
  • Observe, measure, and record oral food and fluid intake.
  • Refill tube feeding bags as directed and record output from various sources.
  • Perform ostomy care on established ostomate patients as directed.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
  • Replenish patient and unit supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize intra-departmental communication systems.
  • Comply with center-wide policies and the nursing department's policies.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service programs as required.
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and read/uphold hospital updates.

  • Prior inpatient/outpatient care experience

Requirements

Experience: Demonstrated clinical experience in a similar setting

Education: Minimum of a high school education or GED

License & Certification:

  • Current Basic Life Support or Heart Saver certification

Schedule:

  • One major summer holiday
  • One major winter holiday
  • One full weekend a month
