Job Responsibilities

Contributes to high-quality, cost-effective healthcare.
Functions as a competent member of the healthcare team.
Demonstrates clinical nursing knowledge and skill in the specialization of the unit.
Applies the nursing process effectively in the care of culturally diverse patients and families.
Organizes and reprioritizes patient care activities based on changes.
Assesses patients to collect data and identify learning needs according to established standards and policies.
Develops individualized problem lists for assigned patients.
Forms a plan of care for each patient in line with standards, prioritizing problems/needs, and mutual goals.
Implements the patient’s plan of care in accordance with applicable standards and guidelines.
Evaluates the effectiveness of care plans, making revisions based on patient responses.
Assesses patients/families' learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning.
Implements teaching plans for patient populations in unit specialty.
Provides direct patient care in a culturally and ethically appropriate manner.
Addresses the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and learning needs of patient/family.
Participates in quality improvement, constant improvement processes, and risk management.
Implements evidence-based guidelines and organizational policies to ensure safe patient care.
Participates in unit shared governance according to department standards.
Educates and orients new staff.
Delegates patient care activities and evaluates expected outcomes.
Utilizes real-time computer documentation for patient records.

Requirements

Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; completion of a BSN within 5 years of hire.

Education:

License & Certification:

Current registered nurse licensure by the Maryland Board of Nursing
BLS - American Heart Association Health Provider
PALS as applicable
ACLS as applicable
Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification within specified timeframes
