Job Responsibilities

Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
Set up and operate hemodialysis machines, monitor patient response to dialysis therapy, and document treatment.
Educate patients on adequacy measures concerning their individual treatment.
Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated.
Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight, and carry out necessary evaluations.
Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders and evaluate intradialytic problems.
Document all relevant information regarding patient treatment and report significant changes to the registered nurse.
Participate in infection control practices and support adherence to infection control policies.
Assist in training applicable direct patient care staff.
Follow newly admitted patients through their first 4 weeks of dialysis and coordinate transitional dialysis care.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment and prepare supplies and equipment for procedures.

Requirements

Experience: Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred.

Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required.

License & Certification:

Must meet CMS-approved state/national certification requirements within the required timeline.
