Job Responsibilities

  • Work under the general nursing process while using independent judgment to assign nurses, technicians and nursing care to assigned patients.
  • Designate shift and schedule assignments, call in staff, send staff home and monitor attendance.
  • Provide clinical leadership for nursing and technician staff.
  • Ensure adequate staff to meet patient census.
  • Supervise staff and patient care delivery on designated shift and serve as a clinical resource for staff.
  • Promote a positive work environment and quality patient care.
  • Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in nursing strategic initiatives such as quality improvement and monitoring.
  • Support and implement the UNMH shared governance model.
  • Assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients using independent judgment.
  • Monitor compliance with standards, objectives, and operating policies and procedures.
  • Act as liaison between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other departments.
  • Supervise employees, including selecting, terminating, training, and appraising.
  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients.
  • Ensure patient care is delivered according to quality standards and properly documented.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans.
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent.
  • Participate in orientation and assume precepting responsibilities of new personnel.
  • Assist with emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients.
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families.

Requirements

Experience: 2 years directly related experience

Education: Program Graduate from a Nationally Accredited Nursing program

License & Certification:

  • RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS for Providers within 30 days
