Position: Lead Nursing Executive in Perioperative Services

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilizes resources to achieve optimal outcomes and assesses staffing complexities.
  • Consults to review materials, programs, and projects produced by assigned personnel.
  • Takes appropriate labor relations actions using 'Just Culture'.
  • Uses the nursing process to create an environment facilitating care delivery.
  • Coordinates and evaluates integrated programs to demonstrate clinical excellence.
  • Collaborates with Nursing Leadership to develop and evaluate Role-Specific competencies for nursing staff.
  • Uses professional standards of care and scientific evidence to evaluate programs/service activities.
  • Creates a forum for knowledge exchange and evidence-based practice.
  • Understands legal and ethical implications related to nursing practice.
  • Initiates actions to resolve ethical/legal issues in collaboration with appropriate resource people.
  • Promotes a trusting environment encouraging reporting of situations affecting patient care delivery.
  • Provides accurate information to patients and staff regarding ethical issues.
  • Demonstrates leadership and understanding of patient/family beliefs and backgrounds.
  • Supports EEO program principles in recruitment and retention.
  • Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and security of staff and organizational data.
  • Recommends operating and capital equipment based on department needs.
  • Performs periodic gap analysis to ensure care needs of veterans are met.
  • Develops productive working relationships with various groups and agencies.
  • Collaborates with Nursing Education for staff proficiency training.
  • Encourages professional growth through communication and education.
  • Ensures comprehensive orientation and competency assessment for all clinical specialties and work statuses.
  • Leads in sustaining the quality and effectiveness of care in complex programs.
  • Communicates effectively as a subject matter expert on nursing and healthcare trends.
  • Establishes effective networking ties at local, VISN, and National level.
  • Collaborates in developing, conducting, and evaluating research activities.

Requirements

Experience: 5 years of professional nursing experience, with specialized experience equivalent to Nurse IV

Education: Master's degree in Nursing or related field

License & Certification:

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse
