Job Title: Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist (RN) Ambulatory Services

Position: Nurse responsible for monitoring and enhancing patient care quality in the ambulatory setting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies Performance Improvement (PI) methodology to enhance ambulatory care services.
  • Stays current on quality trends and advancements in ambulatory care.
  • Prepares and presents PI reports for committees and external benchmarking.
  • Conducts focus studies to assess process stability, patient outcomes, and organizational goals.
  • Investigates incidents, complaints, sentinel events, and citations; develops corrective actions.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepares variance reports for leadership, physicians, and staff.
  • Elevates patient-specific issues and concerns to appropriate leadership and committees.
  • Utilizes technology and databases for reporting, presentations, and documentation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Strong understanding of ambulatory care regulations
  • Knowledge of quality metrics
  • Performance improvement methodologies

Preferred Skills

  • Ambulatory care experience

Requirements

Experience: 1-3 years clinical experience including general knowledge of QM principles, NYPORTS and JCAHO requirements.

Education: BSN nursing degree, required.

License & Certification:

  • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
  • Specialized certifications as needed
  • OR current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State
  • OR current Licensed Registered Physician Assistant by New York State Department of Education
