Job Title: CLINICAL NURSE I - APU - RADIOLOGY

Position: Nursing care worker responsible for patient care under the direction of the Nurse Coordinator

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: Starting salary is commensurate with years of RN experience

Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:15 PM

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, and care for the total needs of patients considering age-specific needs.
  • Assist in radiologic procedures, monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Notify appropriate physician and nursing staff of any changes in patient's condition.
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment/data collection systematically.
  • Formulate an individualized plan of care based on patient's assessed needs.
  • Implement care skillfully and safely based on nursing practice standards.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care and revise interventions as needed.
  • Document all nursing assessments, treatments, medications, and patient outcomes.
  • Make timely decisions in crisis or emergency situations.
  • Float within the Radiology department as needed.
  • Perform and/or direct cardio-pulmonary resuscitation activities.
  • Safely operate equipment necessary for patient care in assigned clinical area.
  • Assist with necessary patient preparation as guided by Radiology policies.
  • Work and communicate effectively with various individuals.
  • Provide guidance and coordination of patient care by other nursing staff.
  • Apply knowledge of standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate awareness of patient/family rights and ethical/legal issues.
  • Participate actively in staff orientation and development activities.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for professional practice.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply the nursing process and utilize technical skills for patient care
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Knowledge of Radiation protection and use of medical equipment

Preferred Skills

  • Certification in clinical area desirable
  • One year experience in Trauma/ER nursing experience
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Requirements

Experience: One (1) year of critical care nursing experience or 6 months of interventional radiology nursing experience

Education: Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois

License & Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
