Job Responsibilities
- Perform technical nursing duties under the supervision of the Charge Nurse.
- Assist with patient care and non-clinical tasks.
- Administer medications, assist with patient teaching and Health Aides.
- Perform approved techniques to manage aggressive behaviors safely.
- Document care according to policy and provide direct care.
- Participate with patients in divisional activities.
- Record and report observed signs, symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient's condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Follow policies in reporting medication errors.
- Administer medications orally or by injection, including intravenous medications.
- Participate with interdisciplinary team in patient care.
- Assist with admitting, discharging, and transferring patients.
- Ensure patient safety and maintain a safe environment.
- Attend team meetings and participate in the development of care plans.
- Participate in orientation and supervise on-the-job training.
- Recognize medical emergencies and respond appropriately.
- Maintain standards of patient care consistent with Joint Commission, and CMS policies.
- Attend work regularly and perform other assigned duties.
- Respond to hospital codes as appropriate.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Licensed Practical Nurse certification
- Psychiatric nursing experience
- Basic office equipment skills
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Experience with Electronic Health Record Management System
