Job Responsibilities
- Provides dialysis treatments to patients in Acute Dialysis multi-treatment room and in-hospital patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and direction of a nephrologist.
- Initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis treatments.
- Charts appropriate information during the course of the dialysis treatment.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the dialysis regimen ordered and makes changes to meet patients’ needs within the parameters of the standing orders.
- Participates in unit in-services, staff meetings and may assist in patient and caregiver education related to dialysis.
- Reports all observed patient concerns and changes in condition to licensed staff members and providers.
- Consults, contributes to, and coordinates care with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Ensures quality customer service and effective communication with all customers and coworkers.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills

- Ability to perform essential functions of the job

- Proficiency in dialysis related skills within six weeks of hire
- Ability to practice workplace safety
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- One year of direct patient care with a minimum of six months dialysis experience
Requirements
Experience: One year of direct patient care with a minimum of six months dialysis experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
License & Certification:
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah or obtain one within 90 days of hire
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system to be obtained within 30 days of hire
