Job Responsibilities
- Perform H&P and order labs, tests, and imaging for breast problems, high-risk breast screening, or breast cancer patients.
- Practice independently but help cover physician clinics when needed.
- Participate in Tumor Board Discussions, APP staff meetings, and Breast Health Staff Meetings.
- Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals as appropriate.
- Plan and coordinate health care education for patient, family, and other health care providers.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
- Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data.
- Perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement.
- Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.
- Formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans focused on surgical interventions.
- Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
- Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests for the patient.
- Maintain records and reports as required by regulatory agencies and The Joint Commission (TJC).
- Assist in the coordination of research protocols, serving as a patient advocate.
- Provide assistance in orientation and/or training of new clinical personnel.
- Conduct workshops, in-service training, and distribute appropriate materials for patients and staff.
- Serve as the expert clinical resource to clinical staff and patients in the area of specialty.
- Provide a safe environment for patients and others.
- Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.

Requirements
Experience: New graduates and experienced APPs with appropriate board certification are welcome to apply.
Education: Master's degree in Nursing with Family NP, Adult Primary NP, or Women's Health NP certification, or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
License & Certification:
- Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required depending on the unit/department.
