Position: Operational leader for nursing area/unit

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform direct nursing care approximately fifty percent of the time.
  • Plan, organize, and direct nursing care for assigned shift in accordance with Mercyhealth's Mission, Vision, Values and Philosophy.
  • Maintain clinical expertise in the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure exceptional total patient experience in quality of care and patient perception of services.
  • Assist with interviewing, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, and mentoring team members.
  • Provide input into performance evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Work within budget and productivity targets to meet organizational objectives.
  • Participate in hospital and department committees.
  • Support process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change.
  • Utilize critical thinking in patient safety and patient experience.
  • Serve as a role model and coach for Critical Moments of Service Standards and service recovery.

Requirements

Experience:

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN or agreement for enrollment in a BSN Completion Program.

License & Certification:

  • Licensed as an RN in the State of practice.
  • CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
  • Other certifications as per unit requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NALS).

Schedule:

  • Varies, may include weekends and holidays.
