Perform physical examinations and treat common episodic and chronic health care problems.
Counsel patients and families and monitor patient progress.
Assist with medical research projects.
Manage hospital care of neurosurgery patients according to protocol established with neurosurgeons.
Observe, evaluate, and document patient's physical, cognitive, and emotional reactions in appropriate medical records systems.
Prepare patients for discharge, including prescriptions, follow-up instructions, and completion of Discharge Summaries.
Act as first assistant in neurosurgical operative cases at the request of faculty neurosurgeons.
Conduct in-depth interviews with patients and/or family and construct comprehensive medical histories.
Perform initial and periodic physical examinations and explore patient's interpretation of health needs.
Perform post-operative assessments.
Complete medical paperwork such as FMLA and Worker's Compensation.
Communicate with patients via MyChart and phone conversations.
Update patient's records, noting changes in medication and responses to patients.
Write orders to increase, decrease or change medication, subject to checking and counter-signing by physician.
Participate in in-service education programs and professional associations.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program.
Certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
Board Certified/Board Eligible.
