Job Responsibilities
- Direct the day-to-day nursing functions of LPNs, MACs, and CNAs on designated nursing units during the assigned shift.
- Provide resident care including assessments, care planning, treatments, medications, interventions, communications, and other resident care activities according to care plans and physician orders.
- Document residents’ responses to care consistent with applicable policies, guidelines, and regulations.
- Communicate with physicians, Director of Nursing Services, and other employees regarding residents' status, new admissions, and shift activities.
- Report residents’ conditions and shift occurrences to oncoming staff.
- Make rounds with physicians as necessary and document care and treatment.
- Review and transcribe physician orders according to policy and ensure execution.
- Meet with residents and/or family members as necessary.
- Report problem areas to the Supervisor.
- Complete medication pass audits and counts medication as assigned.
- Report discrepancies to the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing.
- Complete forms, communication records, and reports as required.
- Coordinate resident activities with other staff members and departments.
- Report discrepancies, problems, and/or issues regarding resident care to the Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Alabama
- Current CPR certification
- Computer skills and proficiency with appropriate software
- Ability to make independent decisions
Preferred Skills
- One year experience in a skilled nursing facility
Requirements
Experience: One year experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse – RN by the State of Alabama.
License & Certification:
- Current Registered Nurse license in Alabama
- Current CPR certification
