Job Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and evaluate the clinical care given to trauma/injured patients.
- Ensure comprehensive and continuous care for trauma patients in the emergency department and through inpatient admission or transfer.
- Supervise the clinical care provided to trauma patients throughout their continuum of care.
- Participate in and oversee the department's clinical performance improvement activities.
- Coordinate with the operational performance improvement coordinator to ensure a strong trauma program.
- Assist and/or lead site visits conducted by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT).
- Develop, update, and follow through with the plan of care incorporating benchmarking guidelines.
- Engage in patient/customer satisfaction efforts to ensure excellent experiences.
- Work on fiscal responsibilities within the scope of trauma services.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate short- and long-term goals for trauma service.
- Participate in monthly trauma leadership meetings.
- Participate in monthly peer review and operational meetings.
- Oversee clinical trauma education in the emergency department and inpatient units.
- Review, develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for trauma service.
- Investigate and provide solutions to problems encountered during patient care.
- Provide clinical trauma orientation to new emergency department and inpatient clinical staff.
- Participate in community injury prevention and outreach efforts.
- Maintain good working relationships with clinical and ancillary departments.
- Stay current in the field of emergency/trauma nursing through continuing education.
- Develop and ensure clinical competence for nursing staff caring for trauma patients.

Requirements
Experience: 5 years nursing experience in emergency, trauma, transport or equivalent
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
License & Certification:
- Valid Indiana License as a Registered Nurse
- TCRN, CEN or equivalent certification preferred
