Job Responsibilities

Provide medical care and treatment within established scope of practice.
Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals as appropriate.
Plan and coordinate health care education for patients, families, and other providers.
Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data.
Perform and/or assist the physician with procedures per collaborative agreement.
Coordinate and participate in performance improvement activities.
Formulate and implement comprehensive patient care plans.
Ensure complete documentation of patient assessments and care plans.
Order and interpret laboratory and other diagnostic tests.
Maintain records and reports as required by regulatory agencies.
Assist in the coordination of research protocols.
Provide assistance in orientation and/or training of new clinical personnel.
Conduct workshops and in-service training for patients and staff.
Serve as the expert clinical resource to the clinical staff and patients.
Provide a safe environment for patients and others.
Demonstrate a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience: Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Education: Master's degree in Nursing with a Family NP, Adult Primary NP, or Adult Acute Care NP certification or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

License & Certification:

Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required depending on the unit/department.

Schedule:

No on-call time.
Every 4th weekend.
1 major and 1 minor holiday is required.
