Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Nursing Administrative Services including House Supervisors, Staffing, Bed Management, and PRN Pool.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all operational activities for areas of responsibility.
  • Develop policies and procedures as well as the quality improvement programs for areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure areas of responsibility are appropriately staffed by hiring and retaining competent staff.
  • Review departmental productivity levels and work functions to properly allocate human resources.
  • Develop departmental goals for increased productivity, improved efficiencies, and enhanced customer service.
  • Regularly benchmark performance measures to identify best practices and direct implementation of necessary changes.
  • Manage development and implementation of strategic plans.
  • Monitor service line growth and recommend strategies based on operational statistics and market needs and trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with physicians and other referral sources.
  • Participate in initiatives to promote visibility of services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare trends and nursing practice.
  • Assess and improve the performance of care and services through involvement in the performance improvement plan.
  • Serve as lead house supervisor and assist with house supervision department operations.
  • Serve as clinical consultant and role model for staff in the delivery of patient care.
  • Direct supervision of PRN pool staff and sitter pool operations and scheduling.
  • Oversee all nursing schedules and assist with Kronos as needed.
  • Organize, direct, and staff assigned departments/services in collaboration with the appropriate department Director.
  • Provide leadership and direction for staffing in accordance with organizational goals.
  • Monitor cost management aligned with patient volumes and revenue generation.
  • Ensure sufficient personnel are available to accomplish departmental objectives within established financial guidelines.
  • Manage fiscal operation of department using the budget for revenue and expense analysis.
  • Develop new processes or services that may include business and financial justification.
  • Analyze department statistics to determine potential variances and adjust as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards established for quality management.
  • Oversee continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote patient safety by reporting issues through established channels.
  • Ensure department standards align with the Hospital’s Plan for Patient Care.
  • Meet leadership obligations under the Ethics and Compliance Program.
  • Mentor professional development of direct reports.
  • Participate in activities to enhance professional growth and development.

Requirements

Experience:

Education: Registered Nurse Diploma

License & Certification:
