Job Responsibilities
- Performs procedures requiring specialized training for general nursing care under the direction of an RN or MD.
- Participates in the planning for and provision of patient care.
- Uses knowledge of asepsis in the performance of treatments such as sterile dressings, irritations, and cauterizations.
- Provides functional direction to ancillary personnel.
- Provides care for assigned patients according to established standards and nursing processes.
- Performs admission assessments and ongoing re-assessments based on departmental specific policy and procedures.
- Assists in the development of a prioritized interdisciplinary plan of care for each patient.
- Implements and coordinates plan of care utilizing appropriate organizational skills and reporting mechanisms.
- Implements individual teaching plans, including Patient Teaching Protocols and discharge plans.
- Performs assigned clinical procedures including phlebotomy, injections, and drug screens.
- Administers medications.
- Orders and restocks supplies according to established par levels.
- Maintains neatness and cleanliness in assigned areas.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to perform clinical procedures
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Arrhythmia certification
- Experience with patient teaching protocols
Requirements
Experience:
Education: High School Education/GED or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
License & Certification:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification
- Valid Driver’s License
