Job Responsibilities

  • Achieve business and organization goals, visions and objectives.
  • Manage the delivery of nursing care and practice of professional nursing for non-hospitalized patients within a specified department, procedural area, and/or infusion area.
  • Collaborate with liaison departments in maintaining patient care standards utilizing evidence-based practice as applicable.
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support The University of Kansas Health System research activities.
  • Assist with front and back office as needed to identify and resolve issues affecting patient flow and the delivery of care.
  • Manage operation of assigned areas by analyzing personnel structure, determining staffing needs, monitoring productivity, and providing direction that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum of care.
  • Provide supervision, evaluate performance, and conduct selection and termination processes.
  • Ensure clinical team works at top of licensure/responsibility.
  • Actively promote staff and self-development.
  • Develop and maintain department related patient care standards through continuous quality improvement.
  • Develop quality and safety initiatives to provide the highest level of care.
  • Oversee development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient, effective, evidence-based delivery of health services.
  • Assess the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, JCAHO, etc.).
  • Foster patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Promote shared decision-making with input from staff.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the budget.
  • Approve purchases, establish and revise inventory quotes.
  • Collaborate with nursing colleagues in ambulatory care to promote optimal utilization of nursing resources.

Requirements

Experience: 5 or more years of clinical experience in practice area

Education: Bachelor Degree in Nursing

License & Certification:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
