Job Responsibilities

  • Advocates for patients by practicing in accordance with the patient-centered care model.
  • Develops an individualized age-specific culturally sensitive nursing plan of care for patients based on the nursing process.
  • Uses a team approach to develop and achieve daily patient-centered individualized care goals.
  • Acknowledges and values the contributions of the patient’s significant others in the plan of care.
  • Identifies potential conflict situations and facilitates resolution using established communication channels.
  • Promotes and strives to protect the health, safety, and rights of patients.
  • Advances clinical expertise by pursuing continuing education and obtaining specialty certification when eligible.
  • Continuously enhances skills to ensure the highest quality patient care.

  • Evaluates and documents patients' responses to nursing interventions and individualizes care plans accordingly.

  • Delegates and supervises interventions to implement care plans.
  • Conveys complete, timely, and accurate information during handoffs.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification through American Heart Association
  • Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative)
  • Strong oral, listening, and written communication skills
  • Strong human relation skills for effective collaboration

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a specific clinical area
  • Nursing specialty certification, if eligible
