Job Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
- Deliver age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan.
- Assist residents with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, and dressing/undressing.
- Obtain and record vital signs.
- Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
- Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment.
- Provide range of motion and passive exercises to residents.
- Assist with food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience.
- Aid providers and nursing staff members with procedures as needed.
- Document resident interactions and care outcomes.
- Communicate resident's changing condition and concerns to the charge nurse.
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep living areas clean.
- Assist with wellness and recreational programs and encourage participation.
- May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control policies
- Ability to provide psychosocial support
- Basic health care skills
Preferred Skills
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
Requirements
Experience: Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience preferred.
Education: High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
License & Certification:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- State certified CNA within four months of employment
