Job Responsibilities

Oversees the quality of care for the Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) and reports concerns.
Evaluates nursing services through the analysis of statistical and performance evaluation reports.
Conducts inspections, surveys, and investigations of TSVH to determine compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, rules, and contractual obligations; prepares reports of findings and recommendations.
Conducts site visits to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
Plans, develops, implements, interprets, and monitors program operations, policies, and procedures.
Assists in planning, developing, and coordinating nursing activities.
Monitors in-service training and other educational programs of the TSVH.
Provides consultation, training, and technical assistance to agency staff, the medical community, and other organizations.
Reviews medical records and resident assessments to determine compliance with policies and procedures, correctness of assessment, and quality of service.
Conducts field investigations, epidemiological studies, and special research projects.

Requirements

Experience: Five years of experience as a nurse with at least two years in a skilled nursing long-term care facility, long-term acute care hospital, hospice, or as a surveyor/monitor.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing, or graduation from an accredited nursing program.

License & Certification:

Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
