Job Responsibilities
- Contributes to suicide care and prevention utilizing a trauma-informed approach.
- Utilizes a systematic nursing process to deliver consumer services including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Demonstrates clinically sound decision-making that reflects awareness of state and agency practices.
- Performs technical nursing skills in accordance with RN scope of practice and agency policies.
- Documents relevant nursing care information in consumer records.
- Educates consumers and family members regarding medications and treatment information.
- Provides nursing care with a focus on consumer, environmental, and technical safety.
- Maintains appropriate supervision of other nursing personnel in agency settings.
- Utilizes a problem-solving approach in practice.
- Provides health education to the healthcare team regarding consumer health needs.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Knowledge of Texas Nurse Practice Act and Standards of Nursing Practice
- Basic knowledge of Pharmacology
- Understanding of infection control procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to establish therapeutic relationships
Preferred Skills
- 1 year of mental health/behavioral health/intellectual/disability nursing experience
- Experience using medical equipment and technology
Requirements
Experience: Minimum 1 year to 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of mental health/behavioral health/intellectual/disability nursing experience preferred for RNs with 2 years experience.
Education: Associate's degree Nurse (ADN) required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
License & Certification:
- RN license required
