Job Title: CLINICAL NURSE I - APU - RADIOLOGY

Position: Professional care worker responsible for providing safe, effective individualized nursing care for patients

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: Starting salary is commensurate with years of RN experience

Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:15 PM

Job Responsibilities

  • Identifies, plans, and cares for the total needs of patients considering age-specific needs.
  • Assists in radiologic procedures, monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Notifies appropriate physician and nursing staff of any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment/data collection systematically.
  • Formulates an individualized plan of care based on the patient's assessed needs and desired outcomes.
  • Implements care in a knowledgeable and safe manner based on nursing practice standards.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care and revises interventions as necessary.
  • Documents all nursing assessments, treatments, medications, and patient outcomes.
  • Makes appropriate and timely decisions in emergency situations.
  • Floats within the Radiology department to provide nursing care as needed.
  • Performs and/or directs cardio-pulmonary resuscitation activities.
  • Safely operates equipment necessary for patient care.
  • Assists with patient preparation following Radiology policies and procedures.
  • Works and communicates effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Functions as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Provides direction and guidance to nursing staff.
  • Applies knowledge of standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates awareness of patient/family rights and ethical/legal issues.
  • Participates in staff orientation and development activities.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice and growth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to apply the nursing process and technical skills for patient care

  • Knowledge of standard operating policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Radiation protection
  • Ability to use both legs, hands, and fingers

Preferred Skills

  • Certification in clinical area desirable
  • One year experience in Trauma/ER nursing
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Requirements

Experience: One year of critical care nursing experience in an acute care setting or 6 months of interventional radiology nursing experience

Education: Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois

License & Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Schedule:

  • On call as needed
