Job Responsibilities

  • Support Cancer Center patients by facilitating the smooth flow of patients through the clinic.
  • Assist in clinic with physical examination of patients and related treatments, including patient history, medication records, allergies, and immunizations.
  • Manage internal and external medical records to ensure accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.
  • Administer routine oral, rectal, or injectable medications not requiring high skill or nursing judgment.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood work, and conduct electrocardiograms and x-ray work as needed.
  • Identify vaccination needs for specific patient populations.
  • Perform related clerical tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing information to other departments.
  • Assist in obtaining insurance prior authorizations.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Medical Assistant Certification or Registration
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic pharmacology
  • Ability to administer medications and conduct routine lab tests

Preferred Skills

  • Completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program
  • Experience in patient care in a healthcare setting

Requirements

Experience:

Education: Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR completion of a health care profession program with relevant curriculum.

License & Certification:

  • Medical Assistant Certification

Schedule:

  • Variable Days Mon-Fri, between the hours of 0700 - 1730
