Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Assist in rectifying deficiencies as requested.
  • Assume responsibility for and supervision of the appropriate care of medical equipment.
  • Provide pre-attending care for patients and perform a comprehensive assessment of the chief complaint and patient needs utilizing the nursing process.
  • Seek solutions and offer opinions to physicians and other healthcare providers based on assessment findings.
  • Document all nursing assessments in the patient’s medical record ensuring documentation is clear, complete, and legible.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, medication administration, measurement of vital signs, and preparation of lab specimens.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing complex specialty-related procedures.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other clinical and administrative departments to coordinate appropriate patient care.
  • Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls using clinical assessment skills.
  • Manage urgent/emergent medical situations according to the organization's protocols.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and physicians for daily problem solving and decision-making.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks according to Illinois law and organizational protocols to LPNs and Medical Assistants.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding new policies and procedures to improve the patient experience.
  • Initiate and coordinate patient education and ensure patients understand educational materials.

Requirements

Experience: 2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment

Education: Associate’s degree in Nursing

License & Certification:

  • State Licensed Registered Nurse for State of employment
  • Certification in Basic CPR
