Job Responsibilities

Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
Assist in rectifying deficiencies as requested.
Assume responsibility for and supervision of the appropriate care of medical equipment.
Provide pre-attending care for patients and perform a comprehensive assessment of the chief complaint and patient needs utilizing the nursing process.
Seek solutions and offer opinions to physicians and other healthcare providers based on assessment findings.
Document all nursing assessments in the patient’s medical record ensuring documentation is clear, complete, and legible.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Perform routine nursing duties including phlebotomy, medication administration, measurement of vital signs, and preparation of lab specimens.
Demonstrate competency in performing complex specialty-related procedures.
Communicate and collaborate with other clinical and administrative departments to coordinate appropriate patient care.
Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls using clinical assessment skills.
Manage urgent/emergent medical situations according to the organization's protocols.
Serve as a resource for staff and physicians for daily problem solving and decision-making.
Delegate appropriate tasks according to Illinois law and organizational protocols to LPNs and Medical Assistants.
Make recommendations to management regarding new policies and procedures to improve the patient experience.
Initiate and coordinate patient education and ensure patients understand educational materials.

Requirements

Experience: 2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment
