Job Responsibilities
- Provide patient care to infants, children and young adults requiring specialized care for chronic conditions related to developmental disabilities and mental health.
- Coordinate care of patients/families in the clinic.
- Provide triage services and monitor overall clinic flow and processes.
- Assess patients' nursing care needs and evaluate effectiveness of care provided.
- Integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice.
- Provide leadership to nursing team members to maintain patient care standards.
- Develop patient care plans based on condition, age, and other factors.
- Implement patient care plans and document/report interventions and patient/family responses.
- Collaborate and integrate contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary care plans.
- Implement nursing interventions and follow department protocols to maintain a safe environment.
- Act as a liaison for patients/families, clinicians, and community resources.

- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing
- Experience with chronic conditions, developmental disabilities, and mental health
- Experience in a clinical or hospital setting
- Experience leading process improvement teams
- Knowledge of community programs for people with disabilities
- Experience with electronic medical record programs
Requirements
Experience: Previous nursing experience working with pediatric patients; one year experience in a patient care setting that included triage responsibilities.
Education: Associate’s Degree, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.
License & Certification:
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa
