Job Responsibilities
- Oversees the quality of care for the Texas State Veterans Home (TSVH) and reports concerns.
- Evaluates nursing services through the analysis of statistical and performance evaluation reports.
- Conducts inspections, surveys, and investigations of TSVH to determine compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, rules, and contractual obligations; prepares reports of findings and recommendations.
- Conducts site visits to verify correction of previously cited regulatory violations.
- Plans, develops, implements, interprets, and monitors program operations, policies, and procedures.
- Assists in planning, developing, and coordinating nursing activities.
- Monitors in-service training and other educational programs of the TSVH.
- Provides consultation, training, and technical assistance to agency staff, the medical community, and other organizations.
- Reviews medical records and resident assessments to determine compliance with policies and procedures, correctness of assessment, and quality of service.
- Conducts field investigations, epidemiological studies, and special research projects.

Requirements
Experience: Five years of experience as a nurse with at least two years in a skilled nursing long-term care facility, long-term acute care hospital, hospice, or as a surveyor/monitor.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing, or graduation from an accredited nursing program.
License & Certification:
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
