Job Responsibilities
- Observes ECG monitors and recognizes abnormalities, trends, or technically inadequate results.
- Troubleshoots and/or reports results to appropriate nursing personnel.
- Answers alarms immediately and implements emergency protocols for life-threatening and potentially life-threatening dysrhythmias.
- Assures communication between Monitor Tech and caregiver is available at all times.
- Documents hourly on each patient rhythm strip: rhythm, rate, dysrhythmia, ST segment abnormalities.
- Writes preliminary interpretation of the rhythm strip for the RN to validate.
- Collaborates with nursing staff for questions and clarification of monitoring questions.
Required Skills

- Well-developed communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital
- Previous EKG and 12 lead EKG experience
- Patient care experience
- Successfully complete initial EKG competency assessment
Requirements
Experience: Previous experience in an acute care hospital is desirable.
