Job Responsibilities
- Provides for patient's personal hygiene: gives bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves, and assists with showers.
- Assists in preparing unit and patient room to ensure proper accommodation during hospital stay.
- Assists and accompanies patients during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures with compassion.
- Takes and records patient temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurement as directed.
- Reports any unusual incidents or changes in patient condition or behavior to appropriate personnel.
- Assists patients with daily living activities such as bed bath, oral hygiene, shaving, and dressing.
- Prepares patients for meals, serves food, and feeds patients when needed.
- Transports patients to and from designated areas of the hospital professionally and respectfully.
- Ensures that patients have identification bracelets before transportation.
- Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system or pharmacy and delivers them to the nurse.
- Answers patient call lights, assists with personal hygiene and activities of daily living efficiently.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic healthcare environment by cleaning rooms and equipment.
- Participates in unit quality assurance programs to improve quality and efficiency of services.
- Utilizes equipment, supplies, and resources in a prudent and efficient manner.
- Promotes quality and efficiency through participation in educational programs and specialized training.
- Assists physicians with examination and treatments as directed by a Registered Nurse.
- Collects and transports patient specimens to the lab in a caring manner.
- Assists with patient rehabilitation under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Runs inter-departmental errands for nursing personnel efficiently.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
