Job Title: RN -- Pre-Op/PACU

Position: Pre and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse

Job Type: Full Time

Shift: Days + on-call shifts between 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., with every other weekend requirements

Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patient conditions as appropriate.
Monitor and document patient's condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and/or interventions.
Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Prep patient for surgery.
Assess educational needs of the patient and significant others considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
Provide teaching and educational material as appropriate.
Validate and document patient and family understanding of teaching.
Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting or licensed military RN experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Experience: One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting or licensed military RN experience required

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
