Job Responsibilities

  • Provides expert clinical guidance in a specialized field.
  • Coordinates patient care quality initiatives.
  • Assists physicians in assessing patients and treating injuries and ailments.
  • Obtains a thorough medical history from patients.
  • Performs examinations or assessments to determine patients' needs.
  • Analyzes and interprets information collected from patients and medical records.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop appropriate diagnoses.
  • Rounds on patients and coordinates care as necessary.
  • Formulates treatment plans and prescribes medications as legally authorized.
  • Maintains complete and detailed records of patients' healthcare plans.
  • Consults or refers patients to appropriate specialists when needed.
  • Provides health information to patients to promote health and reduce risks.
  • Counsels patients and family members about prevention and treatment plans.
  • Covers hospital consultations and assists with patient procedures when needed.
  • Conducts research in the area of specialty for improvements in patient care.
  • Incorporates evidence-based practice guidelines into care.
  • Maintains current knowledge of state regulations for advanced practice providers.

Requirements

Experience: Successful completion of care, treatment, or services for at least 30 patients in the past twelve months.

Education: Master’s or Baccalaureate degree (Associate’s or Nursing Degree if training prior to 1994).

License & Certification:

  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit

Schedule:

  • Included on-call rotations, nights, and weekends as needed.
