Job Responsibilities
- See patients with same day appointments in a primary care clinic setting.
- Provide health care and specialized health services to patients and families enrolled in Primary Care Medicine.
- Coordinate care of this patient population in collaboration with all members of the health care team.
- Provide outpatient medical care by taking patient history, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses, and instituting appropriate treatment programs.
- Independently evaluate patients in the clinic.
- Order and interpret testing and lab results, modifying plan of care to address results.
- Provide clinical expertise and direction to support patient medication management.
- Maintain accurate documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatments to physicians.
- Streamline the patient transfer process between levels of care, including communicating specific patient needs to internal and external team members and other ambulatory care providers.
- Perform other related duties as required to assure patient safety and satisfaction.
- Participate in the development and presentation of educational experiences for patients, families, and health care professionals.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Clinical expertise in outpatient care
- Patient evaluation and diagnosis
- Medication management
Preferred Skills
- 1-2 years’ experience as an APP
- Current BLS or ACLS certification
- Current ATLS/PALS provider status
Requirements
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience as an APP
Education: Master's degree in nursing or Bachelor's degree with completion of AMA-approved Physician Assistant program
License & Certification:
- Licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- ANA certification exam in nursing specialty field
- National Certification Corporation (NCC)
- National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates
- Certification from Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Schedule:
- Days, Monday - Friday
- 1 weekend morning a month required
