Job Responsibilities
- Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
- Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
- Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
- Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
- Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections.
- Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
- Communicates with RN regarding nutrition issues, such as poor appetite.
- Assists department with administrative tasks to support the department operations.
- Answers patient call bell and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Effective communication with staff and patients
- Ability to adapt to changing environments
Preferred Skills
- Prior patient care experience
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
Requirements
Experience: Previous patient care experience preferred
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
License & Certification:
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
Schedule:
- Full-time, 36 hours per week, rotating weekends and holidays as needed
