Job Responsibilities

  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to school nurses and school nurse leaders in western Massachusetts.
  • Identifies and supports Model Comprehensive School Health Service (CSHS) programs, including public, charter, and non-public schools.
  • Conducts telephone consultations, meetings, and site visits to provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Participates in, presents at, and attends professional development programs and training sessions offered by DPH.
  • Serves as nursing course Director/Advisor/Planner to develop CNE programs in collaboration with various organizations.
  • Facilitates meetings for west region school nurse leaders in partnership with Regional Consultants.
  • Attends area community program meetings to represent school nursing and obtain professional development.
  • Explores common issues and resources in the region related to school nursing workforce development.
  • Represents school health on regional emergency planning committees and other coalitions as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with primary care providers to link healthcare systems with school health services.
  • Serves on the DPH CSHS Evaluation Committee and assists districts in completing CQI projects.
  • Submits annual Performance Requirements/Program Outcomes narrative report to MDPH.

Requirements

Experience: 5+ years in school nursing

Education: BSN in Nursing (MSN preferred)

License & Certification:

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
  • Licensed or eligible for MDESE professional licensure as a School Nurse
  • Current certification in CPR/AED
