Job Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history.
- Collect and record nursing assessment and interventions.
- Review and report the results of health status assessments and physical examinations, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessments of assigned patients to the provider.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications and blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage, route, time, and technique.
- Assure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to the administration of therapies when applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patients, assessing labs, consulting protocols or treatment plans, calculating doses, and consulting physicians regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Restock the supply area as needed.
- Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste.
- Maintain all disinfection protocols and equipment according to quality control standards.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy and record the information in the patient chart.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures and maintain patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
- Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart.
- Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
- Assist patients in locating community resources.
- Assist and collaborate with clinical research and act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
- Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing through ongoing education.

Requirements
Experience: 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology
Education: Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred
License & Certification:
- RN state license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
